Used 2017 Dodge Durango at Thompson Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Edgewood for Edgewood, MD

How cool is the 2017 Dodge Durango? So cool that it even has a switch to remotely lower the headrests! Let's explore it a little more than that feature though, keep on reading to find out more! The GT model debuts in 2017 and has a monochromatic exterior that stands out in a subtle way, while the SXT model gains second-row seating options. The R/T model is ready to put your gear on top with its roof rails, which for 2017, are painted black. In Durango models that harbor the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen, trailering becomes easier with an included rearview camera to observe the trailer while driving, and it is motion-activated! The Citadel model rolls forward in a refined manner with an available Anodized Platinum package that puts 2-tone leather upholstery with silver stitching accents into the cabin for 2017. You can even put a third backseat in as an extra choice (dependent on model), allowing seating for 7 passengers! The 2017 Dodge Durango models all have excellent towing numbers, fast acceleration, seat possibilities for the third row, and low-range gearing on the 4WD version.

Under the Durango's Hood

There are 2 selections to be made for engines: either a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine with Fuel Saver Technology that has 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque or a Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 that gets 290 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The 3.6-liter engine tows 6,200-lbs and can get to 26 miles per gallon on the highway, 19 mpg city and 21 mpg combined. The 'Trailer-tow Group IV' adds a 4- and 7-pin wiring harness, a 220-amp alternator (if 5.7L V-8), a Class IV hitch receiver, a full-size spare tire, rear load-leveling shocks, and a heavy-duty engine oil cooler (if 5.7L V-8). The 5.7-liter can tow an amazing 7,400-lbs at its max. The Durango is RWD and has an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard, but rest assured, there is also a compatible all-wheel drive in case you want that type of capability that is available. The EPA tested an AWD 2017 Dodge Durango and rated it at 25 miles per gallon highway, 18 mpg city and 21 mpg combined.

Design of Dodge Durango

There are four Durango models for 2017: the GT, SXT, R/T, and the Citadel. The Durango gets near 85 cubic feet of cargo space and can fit 5- to 7-passengers, which is directly affected by seating installation choices. There are three rows of seating, and captain's chairs are an available option instead of the second-row bench seat (standard). The Citadel model has bright xenon headlights and a chrome treatment for the trim. There is a rear suspension that self-levels on the SXT model, which then adds 18-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone climate control, a 6-speaker audio system, keyless ignition/entry, heated mirrors, Bluetooth phone connectivity, a 5-inch touchscreen, and more! The GT model sits higher up on 20-inch wheels and gains access to an available Blu-ray video entertainment system. This Blu-ray video entertainment system uses double 9-inch screens that entertain well with high-resolution DVDs and are compatible with "plug and play" video games that guests might bring in for the ride. There is a large assortment of Packages for the 2017 Durango, and the popular Blacktop and Brass Monkey 'appearance' packages are options for the R/T and GT models!

Yes! The 2017 Durango SXT now has standard 5-passenger seating and available 7-passenger seating!

It's 2017, so even though this SUV is off-road capable, it also brings in paved-road worthy features as well. For example, the Durango brings in available all-wheel drive plus a low-range transfer case! Adding on to that, the SXT trim eases trailer-hook hitching with both rear parking sensors and a rearview camera! The UConnect 8.4-inch touchscreen is available and has supplemental emergency assistance features too. Standard on any 2017 Durango is Keyless Enter 'n Go, Hill-start Assist, a driver's knee airbag, full-length side curtain airbags, front-side airbags, and Rain Brake Support. Building on that, there are also electronic roll mitigation (ERM), an Electronic Stability Control (with a vehicle stability management system), all-speed traction control, Brake Assist, a four-channel anti-lock brake system (ABS), and anti-lock disc brakes. In U.S. Government crash testing, the 2017 Dodge Durango received a total 5 star rating for side-impact safety. In testing by the IIHS, the 2017 Dodge Durango achieved the highest score of 'Good' in side-impact, roof strength, moderate-overlap front-impact, and head restraint (whiplash) tests.
