Used 2017 Jeep Cherokee at Thompson Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Edgewood for Edgewood, MD

One compact SUV, many personalities- the 2017 Jeep Cherokee is here and proves an enjoyable ride for any consumer. With trims and features for sporty, luxurious, and adventurous buyers, it's no surprise that the Cherokee gives every competitor a run for their money. The Cherokee is unique in its capabilities both on- and off-road, providing a smooth and comfortable ride in any terrain. New features for this year's model include high-intensity discharge headlights on all trims but the base Sport, improved features on the Trailhawk trim such as a heated steering wheel and ventilated Nappa leather seats, and the Overland trim now has available skid plates and features for a tow-prep package.

Under the Cherokee's Hood

There are two available engines for the 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The first is a 2.4-liter I4 MultiAir engine that's good for 171 pound-feet of torque and 184 horsepower. That engine is standard on all but one trim. The second option is standard on the Overland and available for all other trims; this engine is a 3.2-liter V6. Cherokee's equipped with this engine get 239 pound-feet of torque and 271 horsepower. Standard for both engines is a nine-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with the V6 engine option, a Cherokee can have an added towing package, capable of towing 4,500 pounds. Excluding the Trailhawk trim which only comes in four-wheel drive, all Cherokee's can be equipped with front-wheel or four-wheel drive. Active Drive I 4WD system is standard on the Sport, Latitude, and Limited trims when purchased with 4WD. This comes with several Selec-Terrain modes for optimal driving in any terrain and requires no driver input. The Trailhawk and Overland are equipped with a standard Active Drive II system. This is much more rugged and off-road ready with low-range gearing, an extra Rock mode for the Selec-Terrain, and a locking rear differential.

Design of Jeep Cherokee

There's a five-passenger limit for the 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The compact SUV is available in five trim levels including Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, Limited, and Overland. The Sport comes standard with cruise control, remote keyless entry, 17-inch steel wheels, a 5-inch touchscreen Uconnect interface, Bluetooth, a six-speaker audio system, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, sliding and reclining rear seats able to be folded with a 60/40 split, and LED running lights and taillights. The Latitude furthers the Sport's features by adding roof rails, foglights, alloy wheels, automatic high-intensity discharge headlights, tinted glass, upgraded upholstery, a rearview camera, LED interior lighting, a folding front passenger seat, and a steering wheel wrapped in leather with integrated audio controls. The Trailhawk, for more adventurous buyers, comes with features made for the outdoors such as skid plates, hill ascent and descent control, tow hooks, off-road-ready suspension, all-terrain tires that are slightly wider, cloth and leather upholstery, a larger 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen, a driver information display, a leather-covered shift knob, and smartphone app integration for the Uconnect system. The Limited takes many features from the Trailhawk but leaves the off-road equipment behind. Instead, it's replaced by luxury items like remote ignition, upgraded power-folding side mirrors, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel and front seats, a wiper de-icer, 18-inch alloy wheels, an auto-dimming mirror, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Finally, the Overland further upgrades the standard features with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path alert, rear parking sensors, unique 18-inch wheels, a sound-deadening windshield and front windows, wood steering wheel inserts, upgraded leather upholstery, a leather-coated instrument panel, driver memory functions, ventilated front seats, a navigation system, and a nine-speaker audio system.
