Jeep Gladiator Configuration for Utility

As a pickup, the Gladiator definitely has the stuff to take on a tough day of work. In fact, it comes standard with a 3.6L V6 engine. This produces a well-balanced 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

You'll get your pick between two different transmissions to pair with it, although each one will alter your utility slightly. Take a look at the table below…

6-speed manual

8-speed automatic

Maximum towing capacity

4,500 pounds

7,650 pounds

Maximum payload capacity

1,600 pounds

1,550 pounds

You'll want to include the available Trailer Tow Package to reach that maximum towing capacity with either powertrain configuration.

2020 Gladiator: Configured for Discovery

Now that it's the weekend, it's time to let your hair down and have some fun.

The 2020 Gladiator gives you two convertible roof configurations so that you can enjoy some open-air freedom as you cruise down the open highway: Sunrider® soft top and Freedom Top® 3-piece modular hardtop. You can also choose to take the doors off and even fold down the windshield.

As you hit the trail, you'll have your choice between two different Jeep 4-wheel drive (4x4) systems:

  • Command-Trac® 4x4 system
  • Rock-Trac® 4x4 system

The Command-Trac® 4x4 system provides off-roading and all-weather capability. The part-time shift-on-the-fly transfer case lets you configure your drivetrain while on the go at speeds of up to 45 MPH. The Rock-Trac® 4x4 system includes a 4:1 low-gear ratio transfer case that makes it especially adept at rock crawling.

Jeep Gladiator Trim Levels

With the Jeep Gladiator, you'll also get several trim level configurations. These are:

  • Sport
  • Sport S
  • Overland
  • Rubicon

The Sport is the base-level trim and comes with all the standard features. This includes the Command-Trac® 4x4 system, push-button start, and a Uconnect® 3 infotainment system with a 5-inch touchscreen display and Bluetooth® wireless connectivity.

Each trim level adds on from there, with the Rubicon taking the cake when it comes to off-road prowess. This configuration includes the automatic transmission and the Rock-Trac® 4x4 system. It also has a performance suspension system with FOX® 2.0 monotube shocks.

Ask your dealership about which trim level is the best fit for your needs.
