Fall Foliage in Maryland

It's finally fall. It's time for hoodies, bonfires and seeing fall foliage. It's so much fun to go for a drive and witness Mother Nature at work. You can see some beautiful scenery on a tank of gas. Consider it a mini day trip. People flock to different locations all over the US to see the leaves change color. Remember that all the leaves in the country don't change colors so it's a nice fall treat.  Warmer places like Florida doesn't have trees that change colors like Maryland does.

Here are a few great places to go to see the beautiful fall colors:

Elk Neck State Park is a great place for a hike or a picnic where you can admire the leaves and take lots of pictures with family and friends.

C&O Canal National Historic Park is another beautiful place to check out the palate of fall colors. You can go horseback riding or walk the trails. Be sure to pack a nice snack to enjoy.

For those who just want to go for a drive check out these locations and just drive around:

Oakland was awarded the best place to view the changing leaves by Travel + Leisure. So you don't want to miss it! It's such an honor to live in a state with the most beautiful place to watch the leaves change colors.

North Baltimore County is great for driving around and seeing the leaves change. You could load up the car and see who can find the most trees with different colored leaves. Make a list of red, yellow and orange. Whoever wins can pick where you stop for ice cream or another snack. It's a great way to teach your children the colors and maybe you could collect leaves for a leaf rubbing craft or leaf collection.

Hope you have the chance to check out the fall foliage and make some amazing memories together as a family before it gets colder.
