Road Trip Sleeping Tips

Travel Sleep Tips

Regardless of how incredibly comfortable hotel mattresses can be, I still can't get a good night's sleep on them. The pillows are like clouds, yet I rarely manage decent shut-eye. Then I discovered some travel sleep tips that actually worked! These tips will have you sawing logs in no time!

  • Bring a sleep mask. Even the light from the digital clock would keep me awake, so ensuring absolute darkness helps me relax and fall asleep.
  • Don a pair of earplugs. Drowning out outside noise, including passers-by outdoors or people in the hallway outside of your hotel room, is a surefire way to get a good night's rest.
  • If earplugs don't sound all that appealing, download a white noise app on your phone and let it do all the work!
  • Although it may seem obvious, many of us don't always consider changing the room temperature, but we should! Turn down the temperature especially before going to bed; it's almost impossible to get a solid night's sleep if you're sweating.
  • Don't abandon your at-home bedtime routine while on the road; keep things as consistent as possible, whether for you, the kids, or both! Pack the familiar PJs and books and continue the bedtime rituals even while traveling.
  • If the majority of your sleep will happen on a plane, the sleep mask and ear plugs are must-haves, and don't forget the neck pillow!
